About the role

We're hiring an AI Automation Expert & Developer to design, build, and ship custom AI workflows for our clients. You'll work directly with the founder on a small, fast-moving team, engineering AI agents, RAG systems, multi-agent orchestration, and end-to-end automation pipelines for clients across home services, healthcare, and professional services.

Most engagements move from kickoff to a live system in 4–8 weeks. You ship code, not slide decks.

What you'll do

  • Design and ship production AI agents, chat, voice, and automation flows
  • Build retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems on customer data with proper governance and citation
  • Engineer multi-agent orchestration patterns, supervisor agents, structured handoffs, bounded loops
  • Integrate with CRMs, calendars, ticketing, payment, and EHR APIs
  • Set up monitoring, eval harnesses, and quarterly tuning cycles
  • Work directly with clients on discovery, roadmap, and rollout

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Hands-on production experience with LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google)
  • Strong TypeScript / Python, comfortable with Node, Next.js, FastAPI, or similar
  • Built RAG systems, AI agents, or workflow automations in production
  • Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, pgvector, Weaviate, Qdrant)
  • Comfortable on at least one major cloud (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Strong on observability, evaluations, and production-grade engineering, not just prototypes
  • Excellent written communication, you can explain why an agent made a decision to a non-technical stakeholder

Nice-to-have

  • Voice AI experience (Vapi, Bland.ai, Retell, ElevenLabs)
  • Workflow platforms (n8n, Make, Zapier, Temporal)
  • Prior client work in home services or healthcare verticals
  • Open-source contributions to AI / automation libraries
  • Familiarity with Microsoft's Cloud Adoption Framework for AI Agents

What we offer

  • Competitive salary plus performance bonuses tied to client outcomes
  • Direct ownership of the AI engineering function, your call on architecture and tooling
  • High-impact, real-world AI deployments (no internal-tool demoware)
  • Remote-first with optional in-person time at our Orillia studio
  • Top-tier equipment + paid AI tooling subscriptions (Anthropic, OpenAI, Cursor, etc.)
  • Direct mentorship from a 14-year veteran of digital growth + automation
